Tips on Hiring an Engineer
Nowadays, it is important that companies hire a rightful engineer to fill an important decision. Each year there are thousands of new engineer applicants that a 45 – minute interview per person may not be enough to really learn about the engineer’s credentials. If you are from the recruitment department, here are some tips as well as useful questions you may want to throw in when conducting an interview.
Many engineers have worked for a background project while they were still studying at school, ask about the person’s favorite background project as this will show how active they have been about the field before they have even worked for a company. If the person could not even discuss a single project, then most like this person has little to interest in the subject field at all. Another step is to ask basic questions but use a different term. Here’s an example, engineers were trained well at school to measure and compute areas of various sizes and a cylinder is no exemption. Ask the candidate how to measure a soda can, this should be a no biggie for them. Lastly, ask about the software they are most comfortable working with. CAD is one of the most studied software by engineers, they have most likely studied about 2 to 3 CAD software.
